BARNES Madrid presents the Global Property Handbook at a press breakfast
Today, March 12, at BARNES Madrid, we had the pleasure of hosting a press breakfast to present the new Global Property Handbook (GPH) and share the main conclusions of the report on the luxury real estate market.
It was a warm and insightful morning, during which we discussed market trends, international demand and Madrid’s position on the global map of prime real estate.
Madrid, city nº1 in the BARNES City Index
One of the key messages of the meeting was Madrid’s leadership as the number one city in the BARNES City Index, a recognition that reinforces the capital’s position as a preferred destination for high-net-worth individuals and international buyers.
Madrid stands out for its combination of quality of life, legal security, connectivity and long-term investment strength — attributes that support strong demand in the prime segment.
An increasingly global prime market
During the presentation we also discussed the structural shift taking place in luxury real estate. Today, purchasing decisions are based not only on financial criteria but also on lifestyle considerations.
Buyers increasingly value attributes such as natural light, higher floors, usable terraces, representative buildings, turnkey renovations and locations with a strong identity.
In Madrid, this demand is especially concentrated in areas such as Salamanca, Chamberí, Chamartín and Jerónimos–Retiro, where the scarcity of truly exceptional properties remains a decisive factor.
